Anolis sagrei
|
 |
Origin The Brown Anole (Anolis sagrei) is a lizard native to Cuba and the Bahamas. Is also now found in Florida, Georgia, Texas, Taiwan, Hawaii, Southern California, and other Caribbean islands after it was introduced there. This has triggered a negative effect on native populations in the United States, then it eats many species of native lizards such as the Carolina Anole (Anolis carolinensis) Diet The Brown Anole will eat nearly anything that will fit in its mouth, spiders, mealworms, crickets, grasshoppers, and their own molted skin. If near water they will eat arthropods and even small fish. Humidity 40-50% at day time and around 70% at night. The enclosure should be sprayd several times daily with lukewarm water. Too little humidity leads to shedding problems. Terrarium The terrarium should be at least 80cm X 50cm X 80cm (length x width x height) for one male and three females. The terrarium should have branches, all kind of branches can be used, vines, corkscrew hazel, they also like cork tubes to hide. A rich vegetation not only looks good but also offers climbing and hiding places and provides a good micro climate (higher humidity) . As a substrate I took Pine bark ¼ and ¾ of ground-covering meterial for terrariums (earth without any fertilizing additives).
